The Battle of Origins
Where did the universe and everything in it come from? That is a question that has been debated for years. There are two main points of view, either it all came about through random chance, evolution
or it was created by God, creation. Until relatively recent times, most people, including scientist, believed that God created everything in six days as we read about in Genesis chapters 1 & 2. But after Charles Darwin published his book in 1859 titled, “On the Origin of Species”, things changed and the theory of evolution soon became the popular belief about how the universe and life began and today it is being taught as scientific fact while the Bible account of creation has been labeled a myth.
Everywhere you look evolution is stated as true fact. It is being taught in our children’s text books, in our TV shows, magazine articles, science literature and they all proclaim that evolution took place over billions of years and have produced you and me and the universe in which we live. But is it true that evolution is how the universe and everything in it came into existence? Is it possible that God could have used evolution to create the world? Can you believe in evolution and still believe in the Bible? How old is the earth? Is there any way to determine the age of the earth? What about the dinosaurs? Did they really exist? If so, what happened to them? Were there dinosaurs on the Ark? Did they really live millions of years before mankind or did they coexist with mankind?
As you can see there are many questions that people have concerning evolution and creation, maybe you have questions of your own. We would love to have you come and join us in our Wednesday evening auditorium class as we discuss these questions concerning our existence. We will search the scriptures to find answers to the questions about how life began. There are some who proclaim that the first 11 chapters of Genesis, that tell us about creation and the flood of Noah, are just myths and are not to be taken as literal accounts of what really happened. Is that true? In our series of lessons we will be answering that question and many others. We invite you to come to the classes and study with us as we learn the truth about which world view is correct:
